Sudhakar Bokade : Producer Saajan ke

Saajan made him famous as producer, but he was infamous for his underworld connection. His name is Sudhakar Bokade, who passed away today due to a heart attack in Mumbai on July 8, family sources said. He was 57. 

He is survived by daughters Divya and Kiran and son Krishna. 

His last rites were performed at Oshiwara crematorium, with family and close friends.

Bokade was admitted to the Kokilaben Dhirubhai Ambani Hospital in Andheri, a western suburb of Mumbai, two days ago due to breathing problems. He passed away last night after a heart attack, his son Krishna informed. 

Krishna and his father were visiting Malaysia. On the journey back, Bokade complained of difficulty in breathing following which he was hospitalised.

Bokade has produced films like Salman Khan-Madhuri Dixit-Sanjay Dutt-starrer Saajan, Nana Patekar's Prahaar, Saif Ali Khan's Sanam Teri Kasam, Rahul Roy's Sapne Saajan ke and Ajay Devgn's Dhanwaan among others. His Prahaar saw actor Nana Patekar wearing director's cap, while Sapne Saajan ke saw Jackie Shroff's secretary Mukul Agarwal debuting as play back singer (He sang 'Mere pyar mein sach sach kaho tumne kya kiya, kabhie bhula kabhie yaad kiya').

It is said in bollywood circles that Sudhakar Bokade was once a loader in Air-India. There he made relations with Dawood Ibrahim. He got his backing and started producing films. He famously forced film star Govinda to start shooting for the multi-million Izzatdaar at gunpoint. The police claimed Bokade has strong mafia links, a charge he denied.

He launched Kalinga with much fanfare by Sudhakar Bokade who was a leading producer at that time, riding high on the success of movies like Izzatdar, Saajan, etc. The movie created headlines because the legendary Dilip Kumar was supposed to direct it. The movie was many years in the making and could not be finished and shelved.

During the mid-1990s Sudhakar Bokade,  who had earlier worked with Rahul Roy in Sapne Sajan Ke, decided to produce Mera Juta Hai Japani. Roy was due to make his directorial debut with the movie, for which Sanjay Dutt and Jackie Shroff were signed. However, Bokade could not raise the money to complete the film.

Not only names create confusion, but personality or type of films can also create confusion. Many people confuse between Mira Nair and Deepa Mehta as both female directors make films on women sexuality. I don't know why but some people also confuse between Zeenat Aman and Parveen Babi. May be because they both were highly bold in their contemporary era.

Shahrukh's third child, publicity stants and fights

First it was breaking news on around 14th June that Shahrukh Khan to have baby through surrogacy. It is known fact that Shahrukh Khan is 47 years old. His wife Gauri Khan is said to be 42 years old. So, news was that Shahrukh Khan will have child.

So suddenly controversy started that how come Shahrukh Khan knew that he will have male child only? Shahrukh Khan was also reportedly questioned by the Indian Radiological and Imaging Association (IRIA) as to how the actor came to know about the unborn child's sex when sex determination is illegal in India.

Fatwa was also issued against Shahrukh Khan. 'Markazi Darul Ifta Dargah Al Hazrat' issued a Fatwa against Shah Rukh Khan blaming Shahrukh for hiring a surrogate mother, they make it clear that this is a violation of Sharia laws.

Now yesterday news came that baby boy was already born on 27th May. As per PTI report, Mumbai Municipality Corporation (BMC) additional municipal commissioner Manisha Mhaiskar told, "Yes, we have received the birth report of Shah Rukh and Gauri Khan's baby boy,". As per details in the birth report, the baby boy was born on May 27 to parents listed as Shah Rukh Khan and Gauri Shah Rukh Khan at the Masrani Hospital for Women in suburban Andheri.

The couple already has son Aryan and daughter Suhana.

The child was born at 34 weeks of pregnancy and weighed 1.5 kg at birth, BMC sources said quoting report received from Masrani Nursing Home.

It is mandatory for nursing homes and hospitals to register every birth in the city. The civic body issues birth certificates to parents on the basis of that report.

So, if child was born on 27th May, why scoop was planted that Shahrukh Khan and Gauri Khan will have to  baby through surrogacy and deliberately controversy raised that Shahrukh Khan might have done illegal sex determination test.

Was it because Shahrukh's new film "Chennai Express" to be released in short time? Was it cheap publicity stunt? If you recall, before Shahrukh Khan's "My Name is Khan" released, Shahrukh raised controversy that he was stopped at US airport because he told, "My name is Khan". Everybody knows that after 11 september, 2001, US has become highly alert and it is procedure at airport and even our erstwhile defense minister George Fernandes and former president APJ Abdul Kalam also had to pass through this strict procedure. So why did he raise controversy?

Are these mere coincidences that every time when Shahrukh Khan's films scheduled to be released, he becomes controversial issues? Does he do these publicity stunts because his films are getting flops one by one and his arch rival Salman Khan and Aamir Khan are delivering super hit films?

Many a times we have seen at Filmfare or other awards, Shaurukh Khan had joked other film actors in insulting way. Neil Nitin Mukesh had publicly said "Shut UP" to Shahrukh Khan. In KBC, one lady who was mother or other relative of participant refused to be hugged by Shahrukh Khan. But Shahrukh doesn't like to be joked upon himself.

When Shirish Kunder, director and husband of Shahrukh's great friend Farah Khan joked or criticised about Shahrukh Khan's super flop film "Ra One", Shahrukh couldn't tolerate it and reportedly slapped Shirish Kunder.

Before this, on birthday of Katrina Kaif, who at that time happened to be girl friend of Salman Khan, Shahrukh joked about Salman's ex lover Aishwarya Rai Bachchan. It is known fact at that time Aishwarya Rai Bachchan was wife of Abhishek Bachchan and family member of Amitabh Bachchan's family. So why should he joke about Aishwarya? Salman Khan joked about Shahrukh Khan's flop tv show "Kya Aap Panchvi Paas Se Tez Hai?" And Shahrukh Khan didn't tolerate this.

Shahrukh Khan was treated as Salman Khan's family member. When he was nothing in film industry Salman Khan supported him. But after becoming superstar Shahrukh Khan changed. He had made a group of friends who used to be director, dance director, music director. And Shahrukh insulted and joked other rivals through his friends also. But one has to pay for arrogance. One by one all friend started leaving Shahrukh. Farah Khan made film by taking Akshay Kumar as hero. Karan Johar also left Shahrukh Khan. As per Hindustan Times's report, Shah Rukh Khan has a history of making friends only to turn them into enemies. After Farah Khan, Arjun Rampal and Hrithik Roshan have apparently turned cold towards the megastar. The actors gave a royal ignore to him at Dabboo Ratnani's calendar launch bash. Shahrukh's films also started getting flop.

Once upon a time Shahrukh created cold war with Amitabh Bachchan whom he was mimicking in his initial stage of career. Shahrukh wanted to do what Amitabh had done. So he got made 'Don'. He gathered actors and actresses in his 'Om Shanti Om'. It was similar to Amitabh's 'Naseeb' in which stars gathered in a song. In 'Om Shanti Om' Shahrukh mocked senior actor Manoj Kumar. In same film, Shahrukh and director Farah  Khan got Pyarelal (of great music director Laxmikant-Pyarelal) for arranging one song 'Dhoom Tana' for getting music of 70s, but on album they didn't acknowledge Pyarelal.

Shahrukh Khan had also fighted with security guard of Wankhede stadium, Mumbai. Khan, co-owner of Indian Premier League (IPL) team Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR), had allegedly misbehaved with security personnel and MCA officials last year.

As per media reports, owner of Kolkata Knight Riders, Shahrukh Khan lost his cool after his teams won against the Mumbai Indians on and abused the officials after he was denied entry in the playing area of the Wankhede Stadium.The Mumbai Cricket Association (MCA) officials had lodged a police complaint against Shah Rukh Khan for his alleged misbehaviour and decided to ban him for life from entering the Wankhede Stadium premises.

MCA Treasurer Ravi Savant was quoted as saying,”He (Khan) misbehaved and abused the MCA security personnel as well as MCA officials, including our president Vilasrao Deshmukh, after the IPL match (between KKR and Mumbai Indians). “We have decided to ban him for life from entering the stadium in future,” adding “SRK was dead drunk, our security tried to stop him but he pushed him and abused in such filthy language that I cannot use it here." After this incident, Shahrukh Khan was banned from entering in Wankhede stadium for five years.

Last year there were two films scheduled to be released on Diwali - Jab Tak Hai Jaan and Son Of Sardar. Now Jab Tak Hai Jaan was of Shahrukh Khan and Katrina Kaif, while SOS was of Ajay Devgan. It is known fact that Ajay Devgan has not either good or bad term with Shahrukh Khan. But Ajay Devgan had to complain against Yash Raj Films.

As per media reports, ADF (Ajay Devgan Films) had accused YRF of manipulating exhibitors and distributors to release their film in more theatres than SOS. It had filed a complaint with the Competition Commission of India.

"The case of ADF is that a producers/distributor/exhibitor cannot be allowed to enter into a tie-in arrangement which adversely affects competition. YRF has entered into a tie-in arrangement with the exhibitors in a manner that it has made it compulsory for the exhibitors to exhibit the untitled movie of YRF on Diwali day and two weeks thereafter with all four shows," said an official statement from the lawyers of ADF.

This year history is repeated. Shahrukh Khan's Chennai Express was scheduled to be released on Eid (8 August, 2013). On the same date, Akshay Kumar's Once Upon A Time In Mumbai-2 was to be released. But Shahrukh Khan influenced producer and yester year actor Jeetendra and Ekta Kapoor to postpone release of 'Once Upon A Time In Mumbai-2'.

So, Mr. Shahrukh Khan, be a good boy. Respect all other colleagues and stars. You will also get a hit film again. You will not need to indulge in cheap publicity stunts and fights due to flop films.

Vulgar entertainment : Bhag Audience Bhag

There is news that Farhan Akhtar has kissed Australian actress Rebecca Breeds in his new film 'Bhag Milkha Bhag'. It seems that to sell or to promote a film, kissing and intimate bed scenes have become necessary in Hindi films. 

Everyone knows that Milkha Singh is a former indian male athlete. So, his film should be only focused on sports. Yes, to woo audience, romance could be there. Love could be there. But now a days each and every film is having kissing and intimate scenes. That's not all. Promotions are being made on these scenes. Stills of scenes are released and it is said that they are leaked. 

It is not hidden fact who Sunny Leone is, but she is treated as if she is VVIP. Even people from so called high valued family also feel pride to be clicked with Sunny Leone. 

In Bollywood film award ceremonies it has become trend that jokes of gay are presented or double meaning skits are played. Even big stars like Shahrukh Khan, Karan Johar, Ranbir Kapoor, Abhishek Bachchan, Vidya Balan, Priyanka Chopra, Kareena Kapoor don't hasitate to play this kind of skit before their parents. 

On small screen too, double meaning comedy shows have become fashion. Not only that, if you are watching family drama (which are mostly based on family politics), in break, you will find number of advertisements of underwear, condom, deodrant, spray, bike, car..etc vulgar. Some adult audience may like to watch these kind of entertainment, but nobody thinks about its impact on children. Eveybody has excuse. Tv producer will say: Look, what kind of films are being made. Film producers will say: Look, This kind of scenes or entertainment is shown on tv too. Some one will argue that on internet everything is available. In end, this vulgar entertainment continues to be shown. (Audience should say : Bhag Audience Bhag from this kind of entertainment!)

And in the end who is responsible for this indecent entertainment? Information and broadcasting ministry. But Mr. Minister is busy in criticising Narendra Modi!

Bollywood and Ganga : Jis Des Mein Ganga Behti Hai

There is major disaster in Kedarnath due to flood, burst and land sliding. Ganga river had destroyed many houses. Talking about Ganga, it rises from Gangotri, Uttarakhand and ends in West Bengal. If you have visited Gangotri and Haridwar, you will agree that in Gangotri, Ganga is very pure. But when it comes in Haridwar it becomes impure due to menkind. Men and women bath in Ganga. They wash their dirty cloths in Ganga. They even throw waste in this pure and sacred river. When it reaches to West Bengal it becomes very impure.

Great showman of Indian cinema, Raj Kapoor depicted this thing very well through a story in 'Ram Teri Ganga Maili'. He made this film when Rajiv Gandhi, then prime miniter, initiated Ganga cleaning project. In 'Ram Teri Ganga Maili', Ganga is a girl which lives in Gangotri. She is very innocent and cute 'pahadan' girl. When Naren from West Bengal goes there on picnic, he and Ganga fall in love. They get married. Naren returns from the picnic. But there in Gangotri Ganga becomes pregnant. Now there is no news from Naren who is industrialist and wants that his son be married to daughter of corrupt politician Bhagwat Choudhary.

So Ganga starts her journey from Gangotri. Pure in character Ganga becomes 'Maili' when she reaches Kolkata due to bad people.

Before 'Ram teri ganga maili' Raj Kapoor made a film 'Jis Desh Mein Ganga Rehti Hai'. Its title song is beautiful -
Hothon pe sachhai rehti hai
jahan dil mein safai rehti hai
hum us des ke basi hai (2)
jis des mein ganga behti hai.

Raj Kapoor wanted to convey message through this song that in Bharat (i.e. India) where sacred river like Ganga flows, every man is true speaking person, he/she has very pure heart.

Second generation showman Subhash Ghai had also his characters name 'Ram' and 'Ganga' in 'Khalnayak'. Ram was played by Jackie Shroff whereas Madhuri played character of  'Ganga'.

Ganga is very significant to Hindus as well as other communities in Bharat. So, take water in palm and take oath keeping Ganga water witness. This is called 'Ganga Ki Saugand'. Amitabh Bachchan and Rekha acted in this average hit film. In 'Baiju Bawra' Bharat Bhushan sings this song :

Tun ganga ki mauj mein Jamna ka dhara
ho rahega milan ye hamara tumhara

It should be noted that this song was sung by Mohammad Rafi who was Muslim, was composed by Naushad who was also Muslim, and was penned by Shakeel Badayuni who was also Muslim.

The hero whose most films had Naushad's music, Dilip Kumar acted in film called 'Ganga Jamuna' but there is no direct connection to Ganga river. Only Dilip Kumar's name was Gangaram. That's it.

Similarly there was one film 'Jis Des Mein Ganga Rehta Hai'. Govinda played lead role of Ganga. Like Ganga river, this young man called 'Ganga' is also very innocent and pure by heart. It was comedy film which could not succeed much.

Another film also can be put in this category, where name of river is used in film but there is no connection to  Ganga. It is 'Ganga Jamuna Saraswati'. Amitabh Bachchan played role of Ganga. This was one of the flop films of Amitabh and Manmohan Desai. Amitabh Bachchan and Ganga name has two more connection. He has acted in Bhojpuri hit film 'Ganga' and 'Ganga devi'. And 'Ganga Devi' was dubbed in Gujarati as 'Naam Chhe Marun Ganga'.

If any film maker gets idea to make film on Ganga floods that destroyed Uttarakhand, we will see another film connected to Ganga river.

Teen trend in bollywood

With the success of 'Student Of The Year' and 'Gippi',
 producers  are tempted to make teen age story based films.

With success of Student Of The Year', not only Karan Johar tempted to make one more film based on school going students issues and love story, producers Vishwas Joshi and Shailesh R Singh have also made a teen age film named 'Sixteen'.

Its tagline is going to controversial. It says - I like s#x that doesn't mean I am slut. Film has everything- school fun, romance, sex, murder. However I did not get impressed with its promo. As I earlier said, due to success of 'Student Of The Year' and then 'Gippi' more and more films will be based on teen age stories.

'Gippi' had more bold and blantant dialogues related to teen age issues like breasts, menstrual periods etc. To be fair with this film, it was also telling story of teen agers with obesity.

Generally film makers claim their films are reflection of society. And they are right in a way as teenagers or school students are now becoming more and more mature in very early age.

Puberty is a natural process that occurs in both girls and boys. Basically, puberty is referred to physical and emotional development of kids into young men and women and usually occurs during adolescence. A number of physical and emotional changes are seen in boys and girls when they reach at the age of puberty. But now signs of puberty are shown before the right age. Girls and boys are hitting puberty earlier than ever.

Gippi had more bold and blatant dialogues related to teen age issues.

Early puberty can be difficult for kids emotionally and socially and can be sign of many health problems. There is a strong need for parents to guide their children about early puberty so that they can be safe from difficulties.

In this age, while there is immense pressure to get best marks in exams and catch a luring career, there is also physical attraction. Facebook and other social media also keep teenager busy and stressed. If not counseled properly or giving too much privacy, teenagers can develop depression.

Anyway, returning to the issue, this teen age topic will keep continuing attracting more and more film makers in coming days.
