Ding Dong O Baby Sing A Song

When Subhash Ghai's 'Hero' film was released in 80s, its song 'Ding dong o baby sing a song' became hit overnight. It is still popular. Song has very catchy and easy to remember wordings. It was sung by Manhar Udhas and Anuradha Paudwal.

This 'Ding Dong Ding" phrase was used in intial lines of 'Ek Do Teen' song of movie 'Tezaab'. Do you remember? "Ding dong ding ding dong ding dong ding dang ding dong dong ding dong". Then, starts 'Ek Do Teen'. In both - female and male version of this song "Ding Dong Ding" is used.

Now what is common between "Ding dong o baby sing song" and "Ek do teen"? No. Singers are different. Lyricists (Anand Baxi and Javed Akhtar) are also different. Directors (Subhash Ghai and N. Chandra) are also different. Only thing is common is its music directors- Laxmikant-Pyarelal.

Let's go more in flash back. You must have heard 'Hai hai ye majboori'. (Who hasn't?) It is one of best 'rain song'. What beautiful wordings!

Teri do takiyaree naukri mein mera lakhon ka sawan jaye

And gorgeous Zeenat Aman! She looks so beautiful in wet red saree. And helpless Manoj Kumar! He can't enjoy company of beautiful lover and rain as he has to go for job interview.

But my point was to draw your attention towards 'Ding dong ding dong' coming in before second and last 'antara' of the song. In this film, music directors were also Laxmikant-Pyarelal. So, it may be assumed that Laxmikant-Pyarelal liked wordings "Ding Dong" very much and hence they would make them insert in their songs. But L-P were not first to use these words!

As per my knowledge, "Ding dong" phrase was first used in film 'Grihasthi'. Song had following wordings:

ding dong ding dong ding lala
ho koi dil ko sambalo mera dil chala
ding dong ding dong ding lala
ho koi dil ko sambalo mera dil chala
gun gun bole kano me ras gole
sang sang dhole koi banwara
ding dong ding dong ding lala
koi dil ko sambalo mera dil chala
ding dong ding dong ding lala
ho koi dil ko sambalo mera dil chala
gun gun bole kano me ras gole
sang sang dhole koi banwara
ding dong ding dong ding lala

chori chori bagiya me aane laga vo
bholi vhali kali mai to batiyo me aa gayi
mera na raha ye dil mera
ding dong ding dong ding lala
ho koi dil ko sambalo mera dil chala
ding dong ding dong ding lala
ho koi dil ko sambalo mera dil chala
gun gun bole kano me ras gole
sang sang dhole koi banwara
ding dong ding dong ding lala

Song was sung by Geeta Dutt. Music was composed by Ravi. And lyricist was Shakeel Badayuni. Will you not ask who acted in this film? You should. Ashok Kumar, Manoj Kumar and Rajashree were main stars of this film. Film was released in year 1963. Now you can have a common thing between Grihasthi and Roti Kapda Aur Makan. Both have Manoj Kumar as common factor. So it can be Manoj Kumar who brought "Ding dong" phrase in song

Here is the video of the Ding dong ding dong lala:

Madhuri Dixit's beautiful Jhalak

Madhuri Dixit. Indian name of Venus. She appears as judge of 'Jhalak Dikhala Ja' since two or three seasons. Now she has shifted to India permanently. She is also active now on facebook and twitter and updating status regularly and posting pictures too.

According to those status, pictures and the way she looks in 'Jhalak Dikhla Ja', the way she seems to be enjoying her new job, it is obvious that she is very much happy. Reason is simple: Now she is icon for aspiring so many wanna be actresses. She had been number one in bollywood. Her charm is still in people of  India. She is getting commercials, new film offers. She is still remembered for her 'Ek do teen', 'Hum ko aaj kal hai intezaar' or 'Dola re dola' dance numbers. Her smile is beautiful and attractive. The way she says 'Perfect' in 'Jhalak Dikhla Ja' is awesome. After one dance is complete and music still going on, Madhuri is seen dancing with that music sitting in her judge chair. She is natural dancer. In last episode when Manish Kaul asked to perform on 'Hum ko aaj kal hai intezaar' he came on table in front of Madhuri. At that time, Madhuri also expressed her gestures through eyes, neck and head. It was spontaneous.

Now she will be seen in 'Dedh Ishqiya'. Let's wish her best for her second innings in bollywood.

DPL will be as popular as IPL is : Ejaz Khan

When I smsed him for interview, I didn't know he is in Ahmedabad and if he would call me it would cost him std charges. But in reply to my sms requesting him for small interview, he replied back :

Can I call you when I am free?

I said ok with almost idea that he is not going to call me. Why should he call me? Am I mumbai based film journalist? Am I Khalid Mohammad or Am I Omar Qureshi? Yes, it was the fact that I have been writing on films and television for 11 years and journey still continues and I have interviewed more than 90 Bollywood-
Tellywood celebrities ranging from Madhuri Dixit to Mallika Sherawat and Saroj Khan to Rajeev Khandelwal. But that fact was totally unknown to him.

And eventhough my phone rang with flashing his number.

I am talking about Ejaz Khan, the man who is going to anchoring Sony's upcoming reality show DPL (Dance Premier League). Ejaz had come for auditions in Ahmedabad.  My conversation with him.

"How did this show happened to you?" I ask him. "See, Dance is my passion. डान्स मेरे दिल के बहोत करीब है। So when i received proposal of this show I accepted," he tells me. He is very ga-ga about this show. "This is very interesting show. It has good format. There are six zones - North, South, East, West and Central. There is NRI team also. Every team will have a captain and a choreographer. Match will be held. It may be between individuals, may be between team. It will be online of IPL (Indian Premier League). Salman Khan, Kareena Kapoor, Bipasha Basu and more big stars are roped in this show. So, this show is going to be a big - never before show, It will be as popular as IPL is," he says very enthusiastic voice.

"Is it true that Madhuri Dixit is also joining this show?" I ask. "See, for this, I am not right person to answer you.

Ejaz Khan is currently playing Bhaskar role in Bhaskar Bharti on Sony. But about this show he simply tells, "I have just guest appearance in it."

Ejaz Khan was last seen in Kya Hoga Nimmo Ka  after that he vanished from small screen. Why? "It was conscious decision," without elaborating reasons he says. He will be anchoring in reality show, so will he participate himself in any reality show? "No. Reality show is overdone and I have no plane to participate in any type of reality show."

Ejaz has played small roles in films like Takshak, Maine Dil Tujko Diya, Zameen, Kuchh Na Kaho, Just Married and Meerabai Not Out. So any films on hand now? "Yes, I have films that will release soon." Asking about them, he simply says,

"Wait and watch!"
